| 1472190 | 2020-10-12 02:06:00 | Such a useless Pres ? he was the only Pres to defuse the Nth Korean situation , rather than making it worse actively trying to get the US military out of regions no one wants them in , out of unwinnable Military actions Gave the Euro govts a kick up the arse for underspending on Military & relying on the US to make NATO worth anything Probably not as dumb as the biased news wants us to believe . The reporting here was so left biased its no better than fake news . |

| 1472193 | 2020-10-14 02:43:00 | The figures in the Covid-19 sites posted above make interesting reading, especially the total deaths/total cases: World 2.6% US 2.7% Russia 1.7% UK 6.8% Australia 3.3% NZ 1.4% What the heck happened in New York? Mortality 30% while Texas had 2.3% |

| 1472194 | 2020-10-14 21:32:00 | What the heck happened in New York? Mortality 30% while Texas had 2.3% Older population , high population density ? Unable to afford hospital bills so waited untill to late ? NY was hit very early on, possibly the sick & elderly werent isolating . When other states saw NY's death rate , attitudes towards isolating those at risk would have changed . Just a guess . We know some NY hospitals couldnt cope , that would have added to the issues . www.nytimes.com Most frightening is the number of doctors/nurses who got covid from their work , many hospital staff died . |

Very likely all those were contributing factors. The situation in NY as reported in the news was clearly bad but it is still a shock to put numbers to it. Of course, we must be careful not to read too much into the mortality statistics - factors such as age distribution, access to appropriate medical care etc. all play a role - as does the way the numbers are reported. I am a bit sceptical about Russia's 1.7% All the same, UK at 6.8% is a bit embarrassing, and the "courageous" approach adopted by Sweden doesn't look so good with a mortality of 5.8%. Translated into numbers of people actually dead who would otherwise be alive today, it paints a rather grim picture. |
