The govt are sneaky bastards, you don't see big announcements about **** like this, they do it by stealth. They had the contract renewed every 4 years for ages, right on lockdown they lost it, sorry China now they said...... It's not odd, China makes everything...... I’m curious but confused. Are you saying that the Government is telling Private Enterprise where they must source some of their products/material? |

Are you saying that the Government is telling Private Enterprise where they must source some of their products/material? i suspect what happened is they dropped the kiwi manufacturer and installer who makes the gear to fit their houses, and gone with an installer only crowd who sources standardised mass produced gear. the catch will probably be that the stuff may not fit the houses all that well. its like buying bunnings kitchen or bathroom set then making it fit the house. where as typically you make the kitchen/bathroom fit the house. |

They make vanities. HNZ buys them from this NZ company and installs them in their HNZ houses. Now HNZ (govt) will be buying them from China instead. |

Yep when I designed this house the kitchen was scaled to suit a flat pack kitchen from Mega just encase and in the end that is what I put in. I used to design for them and have worked for a few years as an installer for a custom kitchen maker. At the end of the day the Mega ones use pretty much the same hardware and source benchtops from the same suppliers as the custom guys |
