| 1466298 | 2020-02-01 04:21:00 | Another thing to add is that UPS units are designed to supply enough power so that your equipment can be powered down safely or until backup power kicks in such as a generator. That is it is designed to prevent equipment from being damaged when the power is cut unexpectedly. A UPS is not intended to actually power devices for an extended period of time. You can get UPS units which will provide up 30 minutes of power via their battery but those can be quite pricey, upwards of $1000 depending on what you're buying. I just went to PBTech and this is one of their current banner ads Poweroak EB50 400Wh Portable Power Station (www.pbtech.co.nz) Could be just what you need as long as you have enough sunshine where you are to provide additional charging or just rev up your car to get it charged up. cheers, WOW $1000, somewhat outa my price range..:crying Thanks |

Exactly what devices & what are their power requirements ? Another option is a car to laptop adaptor (12v to 19v) and run that off a car battery . Charge the car batt when its not in use. Dont expect all day run times off a car batt . Doing this on the cheap is possible, but its going to be a Micky mouse system . No one knows how a cheap & nasty inverter will affect you laptop & router/ONT power packs . May be OK, who knows, may cause them all to overheat. Better to just run the laptop off its own battery , and hot spot to your cellphone for temp internet usage. Best option is to just wait for the power to come on , if you NEED (not just want) everything to be up during a power outage, then spend some $ & do it properly. :-) |
