1472315 2020-10-16 04:06:00 Years ago I used to be able to enter co-ordinates into Google Earth and it would take me to that place.

However, I can’t find, or remember, how it was done.

Anyone know?

For anyone interested I want to go to 29° 57’ 25” S - 159° 04’ 32’’ E to look at the satellite view.

And, for a bit of fun, where is it I want to go?

1472316 2020-10-16 04:57:00 God knows why you want to go there, and we won't ask. It looks like an uninhabited atoll north of Lord Howe.

Using Google Earth on my Android, I just entered the coordinates in the search bar exactly as you gave them. Good luck.

1472317 2020-10-16 06:27:00 Well done Wal.

It’s a little known fishing spot, but not for the faint hearted. :D

Hence my wish to look before I leap. ;)

Well, there is something wrong with my Google Earth, because it wont accept co-ordinates.

1472321 2020-10-16 18:32:00 Ok BM, here we go ... I downloaded Google Earth on my PC so we could talk the same language.

1. Convert the coordinates to decimals ... here's a good app to do this Convert Lat and Long to decimals Click HERE
(www.latlong.net)
29° 57’ 25” S - 159° 04’ 32’’ E will convert to -29.9569444 159.0755556

2. Enter the decimal values in Google Earth search. Be sure to enter a minus value for the south latitude otherwise you'll end up in the China Sea somewhere

3. Here's the global positioning image

10541

Your atoll is due North of Lord Howe

4. Zoom in

10542

5. Watch the rocks, and go fishing; good luck

6. PM me for my address to courier me some of the catch

1472324 2020-10-16 21:16:00 Its defiantly something with how the original coordinates been written, the Degrees etc still work. if you enter in S 37° 0' 29.6928", E 174° 47' 6.1296 That works fine.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if Google have "Changed things for the better and improved " again ;)
