| 1466143 | 2020-01-22 22:45:00 | Hi Everytime I install a new motherboard into a case I have problems with aligning the board to the stand off screws. I don't do it very often, once a year or so. But I often find that its hard to get the back plate to sit in nicely and to align all of the holes. Sometimes I have to leave a hole without a screw, which I don't like to do. I don't think that those cheap black stand offs they give us now help either. Luckily I have kept a few old brass ones, so I will use those next time. |

| 1466144 | 2020-01-22 23:24:00 | If the holes in the motherboard risers are not aligning thats usually an indication one of the rear tabs could be out of place, there should be a small amount pf pressure when in place against the backplate but not much. Its really easy to miss align and get a tab going inside a USB port for example instead of on top. That's why I normally look and bend up (or down) the tabs just a little more when assembling. |

Thanks for that, I'll give it a go next time. And the motherboard manufacturers need to make sure that there arn't big components next to or near the holes, so that you can get a screwdriver to them easily. Escpecailly in small cases. |

You do use the ones that came with the case, right? Because they provide the correct size . Using random left over ones can be a mistake unless you have assorted ones that will match nicely . |

| 1466149 | 2020-01-24 07:33:00 | I haven't done this for ages, so my recollection might be wonky, but I think I got around the issue by snugging up the posts to the mobo first, and then attaching the posts to the back plate after that. The reason being the mobo holes need the greatest precision, whereas the case holes are a bit more hit and miss. It also helps to secure opposite corners first, as this helps to eliminate the bulk of any misallignment of the board(s). Finally, don't snug any of the screws up until all screws have found their place. It's a tiny bit analogous to the technique used for tourquing up an engine block... nothing gets done up tight until all the bolts are in. |
