23194 2001-10-31 06:20:00 My friend has been having troubles with her computer, it started with her comp rebooting when she was in the middle of something, a defrag would tell her there were errors on the drive and told her to scandisk first, then the mouse moving on its own, then her msn messenger list had been tampered with, and now most of her internet related programs wont work and she gets blue screens constantly. I've tried to sort things out as much as I can from my end, but I've found nothing (we live on opposite ends of the country so I couldn't do much anyway). virus checker says clean, firewall is running... but it sounds like a hacker or 'time release' sort of virus to me...??? Well now I'm having trouble, starting in the same way with my puter rebooting itself and defrag complaining about disk errors - so naturally I want to sort this out even more than I did before!!! Does anyone have any ideas? Guest (0)
23195 2001-10-31 07:43:00 Almost sounds like a Trojan though you cannot rule out a virus. I would suggest a virus check though you prob already have and then do a trojan check. No doubt someone will have a favourite but I use The Cleaner, check out
www.moosoft.com I have had this now for a couple of years or longer but off memory I think there is a demo version and it was not that much to buy either though the drop in the USD will not help. If a demo is available, run it and see if detects a trojan and cleans it out.

23196 2001-10-31 08:39:00 Thanks Gordon. Both she and I have run a thorough scan, She with Norton and I with e-safe. Nothing shows up at all. Firewalls and spyware checkers also find nothing. I am checking out moosoft as we speak... crossed fingers! Any other ideas? Guest (0)
