23198 2001-10-31 04:36:00 I have just installed a LAN at home using 2 PC's.
The main PC connects to the internet using DialUp modem and I want the other client to use it as a gatewat to connect to the internet. I'm using AnalogX proxy server software.

The problem is the client PC cannot 'see' the main PC but the client is visible to the main PC. I've used the ping command on both PC's and results are positive. What's the problem... The main PC is using WinMe will I have to install WinMe on the other Pc to?

Network Specs:
PC 1
Celeron 366,WinMe,56K modem
IP Addr 192.168.1.1
Gateway Addr 192.168.1.1
DNS Addr 192.168.1.1

PC 2
200MMX,Win98
IP Addr 192.168.1.2
Gateway Addr 192.168.1.1
DNS Addr 192.168.1.1

23200 2001-10-31 05:09:00 Cant see as in cant see them under Network Neighbourhood or is unable to find the gateway computer when it tries to connect to the internet? Guest (0)
23201 2001-10-31 05:11:00 And on PC1? Guest (0)
23202 2001-10-31 06:21:00 The internet works fine I just can't see the client PC in Network Neighbourhood and therefore I can't mapp any drives or resources for that matter Guest (0)
23203 2001-10-31 09:24:00 the pc with the internet access dosn't need a gateway ip.

why use proxy software? windows ics will do more. use ics config ultility.

for the file/print sharing why not use netbeui. its easy to set up. the trick thou is to unbind it so its lan only and tcp/ip is not used for file/print sharing.
