23286 2001-11-01 02:54:00 My internet was established by our PC vendor through Zfree. I don't seem to have a POP3 facility and I am experiencing problems in e-mailing through other internet providers. Is this the real cause? If so, do I have to become a non-freebie?

If otherwise, how can I have a POP3. And please make the instructions simple. Thanks.

23287 2001-11-01 03:12:00 Zfree do not support pop3. Most you can set your Zfree webmail account to automatically check your pop3 accounts.

23288 2001-11-01 03:19:00 What program are you using for your email?

If an account was setup for zfree then you should have no problems using its web based email service.

If you use outlook then you will need an account with another provider such as xtra as I don't think you can recieve your zfree mail with outlook.

Pop3 is for incoming mail and smtp is for outgoing and you type in these servers when setting up an account.

So for xtra your pop3 server would be pop3.xtra.co.nz.

23289 2001-11-01 03:21:00 Hello Sally,
Zfree server does not have pop3 facilities, the only way you send and recieve e-mails is by using the zfree website,
just open their website, click mail, type your user name and password, and that will give the site to send or recieve e-mail.
There are quite a few pop3 servers, but probably the mains ones would be xtra or paradise, I think freenet is another. Its matter of joining one of these servers, and on your computer, should be program called outlook express. when opening for the first time it will run a wizard which will help you confiqure it to pop3. If you ask about using pop3 at the helpdesk on the server of you choice, I'm sure they will help. Good luck,
Bob
