| 23209 | 2001-10-31 07:44:00 | I have a HP 948C printer connected to a Win98 OS computer. It prints anything from Windows applications, but can't print from any DOS applications. Trying to print from a DOS application results in a timeout looking for LPT1 Is there any way to direct the output to LPT1 to the USB port instead ? |

Might be easiest to try creating a second copy of the printer and say yes to the question about printing from MSDOS programs. That usually works across NT networks and should work for USB. Alternatively, go into the printer properties and go into the details tab and click capture printer port. You can choose lpt1:, but I don't know what you type in the bottom. Probably something like the device path on the main screen there. Another way of fudging it is to share the printer and connect to it yourself (sounds stupid but it works, then the device name is \\pcname\printername). Good luck, Robo. |

I have heard of DOS mouse drivers for USB, but thats about all. To print from DOS I think you will need a parallel port printer. If you have found out how to do it then it would make a great posting on Press F1. Cheers |

However if one searches the Internet for USB4DOS an American company has a software solution. I emailed them yesterday, and await a reply re cost. Keith |
