23179 2001-10-31 02:08:00 hi
i have a amd k6-2 500 with win98se and 128 meg ram .i have about 7gig spare on hard drive and defragged recently .
in the last 2 weeks sometimes when using ie5.5 when you click on a link or refresh a webpage , nothing happens for up to 90 seconds .
this is an intermittent problem . everything may be fine and then every 5 minutes or so it pauses . there is no modem activity and nothing loads .i can check for email using outlook express and can even get web access with opera but get nothing with ie5.5 . i have upgraded to ie6 with no change .i use zonealarm for internet security and did upgrade this recently .i have tried disabling this and rebooting but no change .i tried another isp and it seemed better but i dont want to switch isp's if i can help it .i have tried the repair option on ie6 as well .
any ideas would be great .
thanks
steve

23180 2001-10-31 07:49:00 Maybe barking up the wrong tree but I had a problem with 98se and ie55 when clicking on links, more so when there was several links in a email. The first link would open as usual with a double click but some links thereafter, sometimes from in a email, sometimes not, the link would not, I solved it by single right click of the link and open. Try the right click and open, if that does not help, hopefully someone else might be able to help Guest (0)
23181 2001-10-31 10:55:00 I think you'll find its nothing at all to do with the software you have on your computer, but a problem with the ISP itself. Seems to be a problem with many ISPs at the moment... they just can't handle the load I think. Especially seems to be happening to ZFree, but also many other ISPs all over the country. Best thing you can do (other than complain to the ISP, which is usually ignored) is to just be patient and wait for the pages to load. Guest (0)
