| 23136 | 2001-10-30 20:30:00 | with both XP beta and now XP hone edition I am encountering an unacceptable delay while 'verifying user name and password' is on the screen. Because this delay does not occur with win98 I am satisfied it is not an ISP fault. It is only with XP and it is over 50 seconds EVERY time. There are no other problems once connection is established. I understand that XP has some safety features and is checking before allowing connection. If this is the case are the any ways of changing their settings etc. I can't find anything that could be causing the delays. Jack. |

You should get a dialogue box with 4 tabs, one being 'server types'. Down the bottom you will see 'Allowed Network Protocols'. Make sure ONLY TCP/IP is checked. If the others have checkmarks uncheck them then reboot. That should sort it out. | Guest (0) | ||

| 23139 | 2001-11-05 10:41:00 | Hi. Very exact similar identical problem but with win98. I dont know xp for squat, but with win 98 there is a setting in dial-up-networking (right click your connection icon) and under the security tab there is a setting 'log onto network' trust me u think u need it but u dont - its a security thingy, turn it off. dont ask me where it is in xp i only know 98. Im pretty sure this is your problem. |
