| 23352 | 2001-11-01 19:28:00 | I have just downloaded an mp3 through Morpheus and the song was duly placed in 'my shared folder'. On opening, this mp3 has Irfanview's symbol and has the prefix - .dat, DAT file. I can play in Winamp but can't burn it as EZCD says its not a valid format. How, then, do I save Morpheus mp3 downloads as .mp3, Winamp Media File. and what's Irfanview got to do with it. |

You could quite happily rename MyProgram.exe to MyProgram.dog and your computer would let you do this. However it would fail trying to run it, as your computer wouldnt know what to do with a .dog file. It sounds like your MP3 file has just been renamed to a dat file. To fix it try this. Make a backup of the file just in case. In explorer go to View/Folder Options/View and uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types. Click on the .DAT file in question and rename it from file.dat to file.mp3. Try running it, and if all works well, then problem solved. You will just have to rename the extension of every MP3 file downloaded from Morpheus. |
