| 23317 | 2001-11-01 06:16:00 | Ive had XP home edition less than a week but there are one or two niggles I'd like to try and sort out. I read the latest review of XP in the mag and was interested to read that their shutdown times were around 9 secs whereas my shutdown time can take 3-4 times as long if it shuts down at all. Sometimes (in fact most of the time) I get to the windows is shutting down bit and it just sits there. I can see the IDE light faintly flicker now and then but nothing else happens. This happens on a new install without anything being added. The system is amd1400thunderbird, geforce3, 512mb DDR ram, asus a7m226 motherboard. Could there be some bios/windows setting that couold cause this such as the power management etc. Another problem was that I went to install some software from a cd that came with my motherboard and got an error message saying that it couldnt find C:\windows\run32dll.exe ??? Any help would be appreciated thanks steve |
