23631 2001-11-04 23:43:00 Hi

Can anyone help me??? I have a AMD Duron 750 on a BC133Kt-100 motherboard. Whenever i am on the internet or using another application and i have winamp going with mp3's or CDs after a while a long beeping sound comes and the computer restarts itself. i am thinking that it is a memory error, i have 2x 128mb SDRAM PC 133 sticks. i have changed them over and done everything like that, is there anything else that it could be??? Would slowing it down to pc100 in the CMOS setup do anything???

Look foward to hearing from anyone that knwos of this problem

23632 2001-11-05 02:16:00 Could be a thermal issue, you chip might not be handling the load and dying.
The motherboard specs looks like it supports 133 ok, so maybe ram speed isnt a problem.
get via hardware monitor, or check your pcs temperature in teh bios after it dies

23633 2001-11-05 03:17:00 Thanks for the help, however the temp of the CPU after it dies is 35 degrees C which is well within the specs according to the data sheet. what was the 'get via a hardware monitor' meant to mean. can i download something that will tell me what bit of hardware is having the problem

Hope to hear back soon

23634 2001-11-05 04:41:00 You might find that 35? isn't the temperature of the CPU, but instead its the temp inside the case. Some sensors aren't mounted near the CPU but near the BIOS chip or under the PCI cards... If the case temp is 35? the CPU temp could be a lot higher... Guest (0)
