| 23595 | 2001-11-04 08:51:00 | OK guys, I've searched the archives and found nothing useful but if I've missed something there, then I apologise. What brand/model CD-RW should I buy? Are they all pretty much of a muchness, within speed categories? Should I be looking at the fastest ones or is there no significant difference between the fastest and the next fastest? Do I need to take into consideration the software bundle (like with scanners), or do they use the same/very similar programs? Any and all suggestions are welcome, I don't know much about CD-RWs, but we all have to start somewhere! Thank you!! |

| 23596 | 2001-11-04 10:05:00 | I have a 12x CD RW but I don't write at 12x because I would get errors, probably mostly due to the CD itself(the cheaper they are... even if it says 16x compatible, won't perform that well, but still do it at slower speeds). Its a sony, got it for $300 and its worth its weight in gold, from Atech computers. I was persuaded by the brand(reputable) and price. Hope that helps. |

Best of all, the digital audio extraction (DAE) rate is up to 40x (for the 40R/16W/10RW model). Most other burners with up to 40x read speed can't extract digital audio at that rate! I believe the Plextor (and maybe Ricoh) have similar DAE for similar spec'd model. |
