| 23539 | 2001-11-03 23:01:00 | When I try to install the Access 97 component of Office 97, using a custom installation, onto my new Acer notebook which is currently running Windows ME and Office XP standard edition the software seems to install OK; however when I then try to open Access I get a message saying that Access cannot open, not licensed for this machine. What should I do? I have completed online registration when prompted by the install. L Tucker |

Then uninstall Access and try to reinstall access 97 only. It may not work. I had to reformat my PC to get Access running after carrying out the installation the wrong way around. Once access is in and running, set up Office XP and choose to save the 97 version when prompted by the XP setup. You may need to try this kb article to delete Office 97: support.microsoft.com See this kb article for order of installation support.microsoft.com regards Marty |
