23560	2001-11-04 03:59:00	We have a <1 year presario 5000 setup. The monitor was accidentally damaged beyond repair. Replaced with a old compaq 140 from school. Can't get high res or out of 16 colour mode despite fiddling display settings. Other probs- printer-computer ain't talking and soundcard (blaster) not being recognised. 23561	2001-11-04 05:53:00	I have to say it sounds like it is knackered. So many things going wrong at once is not good. Did it happen at exactly the same time as you plugged in the new monitor? If you have three things wrong at once, you could try loading a lower spec video driver (the old screen may not handle lots of colours in more than 640x480 mode). But I think it is more likely the whole thing is stuffed. Might be virus, perhaps. How do you feel about the smartrestore disk? Take a backup first. Sorry, Robo.	Guest (0)
