| 23843 | 2001-11-07 04:23:00 | Hi Can anyone tell me who sells anti-static/glare screens for monitors these days? I know Tech-Pacific are agents but who retails? A source of second hand screens would be just as good if you know of one. Thanks Billy |-{) |

These filters cut the brightness by at least 50%, and add two more surfaces to collect dust and reflect light. Unless you just want them because they look super technical-cool ... don't splash out the money. Curtains are cheaper. |

I want to eliminate the static electrical charge that exists between me (earthed via the conductive home keys on my keyboard) and the screen of my VDU which is electrically charged via the EHT supply needed to accelerate the electron beam to illuminate the screen phosphors. Not all keyboards have conductive home keys but those that do have a resistance of 500 to 1000 megohms which is sufficient to discharge the user in 0.5 to 1 second. This is part of the Swedish MPRII monitor radiation specification which actually goes way beyond just radiation issues. Certain skin conditions are exacerbated by the effects of static electrical fields which upset the normal surface potentials and an anti-static screen will eliminate that particular causal factor. Incidentally, have you noticed how your screen attracts dust and how unusually dirty computer monitors get? That is static electricity at work and for every airborne and electrically charged particle that is attracted to the monitor, there is one of opposite charge that will be repelled to the nearest earthed object, which is usually the face of the user. I am still looking for a possible source of second hand screens. Billy 8-{) |
