| 24021 | 2001-11-09 03:38:00 | hi when i create a website in geocities or homestead the site address is www.geocities.com/something and i dont want the www.geocites.com/ stuff in the front of the address so is there a site or a program that can get rid of that? thanks |

| 24022 | 2001-11-09 04:09:00 | To put it succintly, no there isnt, well, not without paying for it anyhow. www.goecities.com is the address of your website, period, the only way to change your address short of registering your own domain and running a server which gives you some freedom, is to shift the site. If you store it on geocities free web service, it will ALWAYS have www.geocities.com in front of it. Its like saying I live at 99 Some St. But I dont like the Some St part so can I please change my address to 99? |

| 24023 | 2001-11-09 04:14:00 | I use a redirection service (free) where you can create your own name with a choice of endings after the @ bit and when someone types in your address the site redirects them to your geocities site. It's quite handy in case you change site hosts but still want to keep your website name the same - all you do is change the info on the redirection site. I use http://url4life.com but there are plenty more out there if you do a search in Google. |
