24170 2001-11-11 06:34:00 I have updated my system a couple of months ago 20 gighard drive all new bits. I run Win 98 256meg ram
This morning when I booted up I got the message

CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad

My system seems now a little rocky - it 'locks up' at times, wont print for some reason but not all the time and other 'odd' things. Trying to 'shut down' brings its problems like a message that says 'Win95 RPC Wmsg Window' and almost have to crash out!

24172 2001-11-11 11:09:00 You say you upgraded your system.
What about the motherboard. Sounds like the battery may be stuffed.

24173 2001-11-11 22:17:00 Or the battery may have been bumped, so that it is not making contact. Try removing the battery and carefully replacing it. Handle it with a tissue: skin oils/acids can make the contact unreliable. Guest (0)
