24165 2001-11-11 05:45:00 Bought a selection of cd-rom programs for the children - auto detect operates - 'do you want to install' appears - when I click yes - nothing happens? - have also disabled the anti-virus program
Have tried loading on another family members 'puter - and they work perfectly -

24167 2001-11-11 11:49:00 Blame Charles Babbage. He was the bloke who came up with the design I believe...

But seriously, it seems as though the hardware configuration on your PC doesn't like the autoinstall menu system of the CDs. This could be narrowed down to the CD ROM drive itself, or possibly a driver incompatibility.
Try going into Windows Explorer, and take a look at one of the CD Rom discs. If it has many different games on it, they are usually separated into different folders. Pick a folder, go into it and find the install program which is normally 'Setup.exe', or 'Install.exe' or 'Install.bat' or something similar. Try installing the programs like this, and if this works then there is an issue surrounding the autoinstall menu, and this may be due to the way it is written, performing perfectly on one PC yet not on another.

Software writers don't/can't always allow for every system configuration, unfortunately.

24168 2001-11-12 04:27:00 Thanks JT for your response -
as always seems to happen - after you've rushed into print - the programs loaded perfectly today
Suspected it was related to Nortons Anti-Virus - and sure enough after rebooting today -the disable feature worked perfectly - should have tried rebooted and reload cd-roms yesterday -:(
Thanks again for your reply
