| 24325 | 2001-11-13 02:45:00 | I'm running Windows 98 O/S and MSOutlook Express. Compaq hardware. I can connect to the internet okay through 2 service providers, however when I connect to email it prompts me for further authorisation If I reenter username and P/w it comes back with the same box and eventually gives me the following error: 'There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your p/w was rejected Account 'pop3.paradise.net.nz, Server Response: 'ERR authorisation failed, Port 110 Error 0x800CCC90, Error Number 0x800CCC92. The same thing happens if I connect through another service provider. eg xtra. I have recently had a virus and have rebuilt my machine from the compaq re-install CD from scratch. I have reinstalled my apps and added McAffee anti virus software. Internet email worked fine for a couple of days before this happening. Any help, greatly appreciated! |

Check your 'server' settings under 'Properties' for the ISP's (in Outlook Express look under the 'Tools' menu, select 'Accounts' , select the 'Mail' tab, then select an ISP and click 'Properties'). To get mine going again I had to stop the anti virus software from routing my mail through itself. I did this by changing the 'incoming mail' setting from 'localhost' (my computer) to pop3.paradise.net.nz and then re-entering my username. The anti-virus software had appended /pop3.paradise.net.nz to the username). These changes were subsequently reversed by the anti-virus software but this time it connected correctly and I got my mail. | Guest (0) | ||
