24246 2001-11-12 04:52:00 Occasionally at start-up I get this blue screen message ?terminating thread due to stack overflow problem. A Vxd possibly recently installed has consumed too much stack space. Increase the setting of the ?MinSPs? in System.INI or remove the recently installed Vxd?s. There are currently 4 Sp?s allocated. Press any key to continue?. Pressing a key completes the boot up satisfactorily. I have not installed any new drivers. I have a P-III,63MB,8.2GB system with Windows 98,SE.Kindly suggest a remedy. 24247 2001-11-12 06:03:00 To resolve this situation, add the following line to the [386Enh] section of the System.ini file and then restart your computer: MinSPs=4 If the problem persists, increase the number of spare stack pages in increments of 4 (for example, 8, 12, 16). NOTE: Each spare stack page requires 4 kilobytes of memory. Guest (0)
24248 2001-11-14 03:14:00 What does all that mean Tweak'e, and what is a vxd? Guest (0)
24249 2001-11-14 05:07:00 Thanks tweak?e . I ran ?sysedit? the system.ini file shows enteries for boot,keyboard,boot description,[386 Enh], etc.
[386 Enh] is followed by ebios, woafont etc. I see no entry for minSps. Do I add the line MinSPs=4 immediately after the [386Enh] line as a separate line? I am new to this hence the query.
Btw why does the stack overflow problem occur?
