| 24323 | 2001-11-13 05:33:00 | G'day Stacy As a confirmed Nokia fan I can't stand by and see you sweat. As a preliminary, what model of router do you have, and is your ethernet card operational? Then: 1)Did you use the installation CD to set it up? The Nokia CD configures your computer's TCP/IP settings and also establishes your connection with your ISP. 2) Are you on Xtra? There is one trick telecom won't tell you about your password. The format is [your password].xadsl@xtra.co.nz and it won't work without the bit in the middle. 3) You have to use a cross-over cable to connect the modem to your ethernet card. 4) When your computer is able to talk to the router you should be able to ping it on 192.168.7.1 Have a look at these and post again if still stuck. | 24324 | 2001-11-13 06:54:00 | hi Stacy, do you have a M1122 or a Ni500 router? Both can be administered by pointing your web browser at the IP address of the router. eg 'http://192.168.1.254' The IP address can vary depending on who installed the router. Check the computer you are using can ping the IP address or the router before proceeding. If you have a M1122 point the web browser at it and check that both the DSL and PPP status are marked as 'OK'. If you have a M1122 check the DSL light on the front is lit up Green. If your ISP is Xtra then add '.xadsl' onto your username in the router configuration eg: username.xadsl@xtra.co.nz for your login. Ring your ISP for help first as Telecom wont help you if you call them direct. good luck!! |
