24444 2001-11-14 02:30:00 Although I have become a dedicated Opera 5.15 user unfortunately some Dinosaurs (e.g. my Bank and MS Sites) don't feel the same, so for some applications I must still occasionally use IE5.5. OS is Win95 so can'y upgrade to IE6. (Or would it be a downgrade compared with Opera?). However for some time we have not been able to print or print preview form IE Explorer and nor it is refusing to show any web pages (including Home Page}or navigate to any other web site either from Favourites or by direct entry. Have tried downloading a fresh copy from MS Download site and have reset all the Internet Options in the Tool Bar to match those on another machine we have which works fine. No joy. It just sits there and tells me that this page cannot be displayed.
IE5.5 does not appear on the list of uninstallable programmes in Control Panel and as Microsoft entwines its apps totally with every other app on the computer I am concerned that manual removal will damage the system or other pgms.
Coincidentally one of the jousehold teenagers let a URL calld 'pass this on' take over as defult Home page along with one or two other notorious cuckoos.
Help. Is it my fault, Microsoft's fault or a reulyt of the pass this on gremlin ? How do I get a working copy back ?

24445 2001-11-14 11:28:00 ...hmmm, here's a link that will provide asistance in correcting your 'pass this on' annoyance:

wizardscc.com

With regards the problems you are having with Internet Explorer, some users [probably in excess of 300,000,000 of them] find that speaking nicely to it helps.

Failing that, try running the Internet Explorer 'Repair' function.

Cheers !!!
