The machine: Bitsa
Jetway 531cf mobo. AMD K6 2 500 cpu. 184 MB RAM. 8 MB onboard video. Onboard sound. 8.6 GB HDD (plenty of room), 2.1 GB HDD. Win98 (installed on 8.6 drive with all programs same)

Heres the error message:
Microsoft visual basic C++ runtime library.
Runtime error.
Program: C:\westwood\sun\game.exe
R6025 Pure virtual function call.

Still there? Good. This error occurrs in Command & Conquer, Tiberium sun (& fire storm) and basically crashes the game.

Have had no luck at MS knowledge base. All the vb runtime files seem to be in win system folder. vb40032 was missing have installed, error still occurring. have also reinstalled game, run with only systray and explorer running.

Have had problem with DDHelp errors in same program but seemed to have solved by reinstalling DirectX and sound drivers. This would cause game to freeze, crash or comp to reboot.

I'm aware that this is getting a bit long winded so drop me a line or post if you require more info.

Help please my son is getting a bit skitterish without a vital component of his R&R.

Regards

24376 2001-11-13 08:44:00 Go to control panel>system>device manager and see if any of the hardware has a conflict (a yellow exclaimation mark) and if so what is it and what brand etc.
and get back to us.

No! no conflicts in device manager. Have reinstalled a few drivers and devices and also tried them on generic win drivers. Updated video & sound a few months back also flashed bios to latest, that was long before runtime error but the game & others were very flakey. I suspected sound & or video. (Had considered getting a vga card (pci) but did not consider worth it on this mobo.)

Do you think the VB runtime thing is a hardware symptom rather than software or a cause in itself?

I do have an exception log to the game that i saved, means almost nothing to me, cant see any reference to VB or MSVB. Sent it to Westwood but have not received a reply. Perhaps you would like a copy?
