24561 2001-11-15 03:42:00 Hi,

Have connected my two pcs as per instructions in a previous post to COM1 of each pc using a double ended 9-pin cable from dick-smith.

The two pcs connect ok, but a window comes up asking for the host computers name. I type it in and it spends awhile looking for shared folders and finally displays an error message which says 'Cannot find Host' The name is typed correctly. All settings have been made re: previous post.

The two pcs can talk to each other as they go through the verify username and password stage and then connect no problems. It is just that I cannot get them to share data.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

24562 2001-11-15 05:38:00 If you are using DCC, you need both to be in the same WORKGROUP, and have different computer names. If you are using TCP/IP rather than NETBEUI, they need a way to translate names to net addresses (WINS?, or a HOSTS file). It looks as if it is trying both protocols before finding each other.

You have set up sharing on both?

Ethernet is easier ...

Can you reply.
