| 24551 | 2001-11-14 23:15:00 | Hi, my PC is about 2.5 yrs old. It's a clone a friend helped me put together, and it runs off an ASUS P2B-F motherboard. Dunno if it matters but it's PII-400, 128MB Ram, ASUS Video Card (Riva TNT 16mb) IBM 10GB HDD. Anyway, the problem is that when I go to SHUTDOWN Windows 98 (first edition), the computer no longer powers off itself. It used to do so, but suddenly stopped doing it. Now I have to manually turn the darned thing off and it's getting very annoying. When Windows has finished shutting down, I can hear a fan(?) stopping, so there is a distinct signal that something has powered off, but the system is still in the ON state. Please if anyone can assist? Another separate shutdown issue: I changed the logo.sys picture files to display different pictures on shutdown. The 'Please wait while Winblows shuts down' replacement screen appears, but once the system is shutdown, the 'It is now safe to turn off your computer' replacement screen does not appear. Thanks in Advance. |
