24607 2001-11-15 19:27:00 I have a Gateway 9300 which I brought about 18 months ago. I'm finding that the computer is slowing down a lot recently. If I open a folder, say 'My Computer' it takes a while for the folder to actual open and then still more time to display the icons. I find this with all applications. I keep up with the maintenance of the computer and delete all the unnecessary things. How can I speed up my laptop with out having to buy a new one? Guest (0)
24608 2001-11-15 20:21:00 Check the thread on the 13/11 (I think) entitled 'slow hardware/software' it has a fair bit of stuff.

Some of it is even useful.

Regards, Robo.

24609 2001-11-19 16:05:00 use ad-aware reduce the size of your IE cache to 100 megs set you pc as a server and set virtual memory to a fixed amount on your hdd mine is at 100 megs but I have 768 megs of ram on my motherboard .
Also download and use window washer Reg cleaner and cacheman to optimise your memory also do defrag on a regular basis weekly is fine .
