I added a 256k memory chip to the 128k memory I had. Now system information shows total physical memory of 367 but available physical memory of only 229. why the difference? |

i'll assume that advailable memory is memory that is not in use by any probrams such as windows ;-) |

All programs use a certain amount of ram the more thing you have open at once the more is used up say i play music with winamp download with morpheus or winmx plus surf using both opera and explorer plus start to rip cds with audio catalyst if i tried to do all these things at once as will as say use photoshop in the background then most of my memory would be used up and then the virtual memory kicks in using your Hard Drive to supplement your ram. |
