24683 2001-11-16 20:15:00 I downloaded a program using Netscape in Linux.WHERE IS THE PROGRAM STORED i thought it would be in my home dir Guest (0)
24684 2001-11-17 03:07:00 Why did you think that? Now is the time to discover two commands. Try 'man find | more', and 'man locate | more'. The manual page for locate might point you at 'updatedb'. Then you can probably try something like 'find / -name whatever.I.you.downloaded'.
The locate command is more useful for more permanent things, but it is not set up or updated unless you leave the computer running through the times at which the cron housekeeping commands run. Or if you run the updatedb.locate command. Have a look at /etc/cron.(various) to see what is done.
