| 1283617 | 2012-06-23 20:25:00 | I have 10,000 pictures which date over the last 70 years. I have tried to organize my pictures by spending about 1,000 hours over the last 10 years. So I’m wondering if there is a database out there that could organize my pictures, by date, place, etc. Now I really have tried to do this but I just can’t get it done right. Now if there is a database out there I know I will need to spend about a 100 hours with it and of course there will be many duplicates but I feel the more I work with my pictures the more I screw up I get so can anyone recommend a database for my pictures and I will be taking a lot more in the further and I don’t need to get even more screwed up. | lostsoul62 (16011) | ||

| 1283620 | 2012-06-24 00:54:00 | Adobe LR is a great product, it costs thou, they do have student discounts, don't need to the newest version. Flickr does not archive well, at least their free version, ie., not pro account. If the pictures are there for sometime, it will dissapear by itself, some have said that if you pay the pro fee which I think is free for Telecom BB customers or it might be around $35/year you may be able to view the old pictures again. And I don't have tons of pictures. I only have 150 jpeg pictures sized for the Internet. ie, 1024x768s. Some of them were uploaded a 5 or so years ago from my various overseas trips that I share with people. Some of the free ones might be the likes of Adobe Photo Album and such that may be provided for free from scanners etc. |

| 1283622 | 2012-06-24 08:47:00 | "Going back 70 years" - presumably we are talking digitised pictures here. No question, Adobe Lightroom has very good picture management capabilities, but it might be overkill for your needs. Lightroom's real strength is in RAW file processing. Photoshop Essentials also has an Organiser module that might do what you want. ADSee is another, though I don't have any experience with it as a photo manager. I can't speak for any of the free software on offer, but considering the size of the collection you want to manage, it would seem worth while spending a little money to make sure what you get will really do the job. |
