| 1283481 | 2012-06-23 01:49:00 | Hi all, XP Home SP/3 My desktop recycle bin icon has lost its usual behaviour and now will not accept what is dropped onto it. Its usual behaviour is when I drag a file or an icon over the recycle bin it highlights and accepts whatever I drag and drop into it. What happens now is the bin icon does not highlight and like a frog "jumps" out of the way of what is being dropped onto it. I've been round the net but nothing I've found leads me to a fix i.e. Kelly's Recycle Bin fix, manual repair of registry bin code etc. Drag & Drop is checked in Startup. When I select an icon or file by highlighting it, and press delete, everything works and the item appears in the bin folder. Weird. Anyone come across this? Many thanks! |

| 1283485 | 2012-06-23 23:39:00 | I found out that the lack of drag and drop with the recycle bin was wider that that, and extended to all files and folders on the XP desktop. None of the folders would accept drag and drop. Rather than play lucky dip with Google, I ghosted my system back to an earlier date which of course fixed the problem. That still leaves the question: what happened to cause it in the first place? I may never know. Thanks for your help Agent_24. That second link didn't do it. |
