| 1283360 | 2012-06-22 06:58:00 | Hi folks, My brother has an older AGP slot and he needs a new graphics card he had a Nvidia 7600 GT. I was wondering if you people knew of any decent cards at a fair price. I am considering an HD 3650 512MB/1GB or an HD 4650 1GB. I'm still figuring out which one has the fastest effective clock speed. I can't find one for the 3650 yet. I hate AGP!! Thanks guys.:) |

| 1283361 | 2012-06-22 07:38:00 | Unfortunately given the likelyhood of the other components then being a bottleneck (or a new card still not being enough), I would advise putting that money towards another machine, even if it's only an upgrade box. I upgraded my old PC from an integrated SIS chipset to a geforce 440mx, then went out and got an fx 5500 only to get a few more frames out of it, simply because it was too slow of a machine for newer technologies, fullstop. If I'd saved that extra hundred bucks on a new GPU and extra stick of ram it would have done alot more in this PC than it did in that one. |

| 1283363 | 2012-06-22 09:36:00 | Well if he's got the PSU for it go for the highest spec card you can find then. But when you're talking that price you've got a fair bit towards an upgrade box too. You'll likely get stuck with something like a 6200 or 3650 which is really rather low end. pbtech.co.nz pbtech.co.nz I mean those things use GDDR2 and thereabouts, when we're up to like GDDR 5 and 6 now I think. I think he'll likely be happier in the long run if he starts saving for something new, gets something relatively spectacular then has room to move and expand. His current games won't stay round forever. |

| 1283364 | 2012-06-23 04:46:00 | You're right there. But my bro um he is younger than me and has very little cash. I suppose when he gets older he'll be able to upgrade his PC even more. Some AGP cards have GDDR3. He has 410W PSU and he doesn't have AGP pro. Thanks for the help mate. ;) |

| 1283366 | 2012-06-23 08:18:00 | Iv'e been keeping a good look out for them, even the crown AGP card the 4670, but are far too expensive for what they are. On ebay at the prices they go for I could get a used GTX 560 TI. I'm not sure weather the 3650 is an improvement over my bro's old 7600 GT. There would be no point in getting something worse. I suppose I just gotta keep an eye on things. |

| 1283367 | 2012-06-23 08:51:00 | Yeah the 4650 is quite a bit better than a 7600GT in theory, seems like a waste of money too me to upgrade something that age though and AGP cards are hard to find and expensive so good luck. And @ 8ft, part of the reason the FX 5500 didn't help much might have been because the FX series was one of Nvidia's worse card ranges, still better than an mx440 in theory but not as much as you'd expect. I had a Ti4200 die on me and didn't have much of a budget to replace it so I went to PBtech and asked for the cheapest replacement that would be at least as good as my old card and got talked into an FX5200. It was MUCH slower than the Ti4200 had been and buggy in a lot of games, I was not happy with the advice I got. I researched it later and found out the FX range was not widely liked by gamers. |

| 1283369 | 2012-06-23 09:49:00 | Well I was able to run HL2 barely, plus it had a DVI which the 440 lacked. I was trying for a 3650 but being an OEM pc it lacked a high enough wattage PSU (250W) so was stuck with that. In any case though should've saved for it instead. Especially since my mobo only supported AGP 4x. |
