1283244 2012-06-21 11:17:00 Anyone jump on the Dickie 7-8pm sale of a WD 2TB ext drive for $99? Now, that is/was a REAL bargain.

Wish I hadn't bought the Seagate ($139) now! Even for the same price I would take the WD.

Seems like it's a mad rush to clear USB 2.o drives out. Or, perhaps, a mad rush to balance the books!!

1283245 2012-06-21 11:25:00 Probably got a new batch of stock now that the HDD manufacturers have got their plants running in thailand. Clear the shelves of 2.0 and old stock. go. The Error Guy (14052)

Apparently it was a hoax by Seagate (and other manufacturers?) to push the prices up? Don't quote me on this.

1283247 2012-06-21 20:34:00 OK, I won't quote you, but I find the idea totally credible.

On the other hand, with HDD based TV recording devices selling like crazy across the globe, I'm very surprised the 'shortage' didn't have far greater impact on prices and availability of HDD kit everywhere.

1283249 2012-06-21 23:39:00 At the moment I have more storage space than I need so I decided not to buy it. I also noted that it was a USB 2 device. My computer is USB 3 capable. Bobh (5192)
