1260604 2012-02-21 22:41:00 The CDMA mobile network is closing on 31 July 2012 . That means if you have a CDMA mobile you will not be able to use it after this date and you will need to move to the XT mobile network .

I have a CDMA phone which will need to be replaced by 31 July 2012 as I will need to move to the XT mobile network . I am currently on the Telecom One Bill Plan . I get my monthly landline bill and am charged for any calls made from my mobile phone as well . This plan makes my cellphone bill much cheaper as I only make 3 or 4 calls a month on it . The cellphone is good for emergencies such as breakdowns and to receive calls .

Three phones I am considering are;

Samsung S5511 costing $149 . This is a basic flip open phone . I prefer the flip open phone because to hang up all you do is flip it closed .

Telecom R1 costing $69 . Another basic flip open phone .

Telecom Huawei X1 costing $119 . This has a few more features including Maps which could be handy in my job as I would always have access to a map . Then again I do have a GPS but it is not kept in my work vehicle .

Any comments, suggestions or user experience would be appreciated .

1260607 2012-02-21 22:56:00 I have a Samsung S5511T. Works fine, only comment I have is that it is difficult to open when your hands are damp. Need long fingernails.
Has a lot of features that I will never use but does have a loud ring which I like.

1260608 2012-02-21 23:13:00 You gets what you pays for.

My recommendation would be for the Samsung.

The R1 is a budget phone and the Huawei X1 is not only a budget phone, but a budget Android phone and the user experience will likely not be a pleasant one

1260609 2012-02-22 02:36:00 I finally got husband the Nokia 3710. It's not as good as his last one - not quite as loud ringing, and it's only taken 3 tantrums to figure it out so far.....so at last - something suitable and I can stop researching phones now. pctek (84)

1260611 2012-02-22 04:19:00 Don't just look at Telecom's store unless you want a discount or free upgrade. There are plenty of other models out there. The ones telecom stock are usually the worst :p The Error Guy (14052)
1260612 2012-02-23 06:47:00 An excellent replacement for a Telecom phone is a couple of semaphore flags.
Great battery life, reliable, and weight-watchers approved. Has a few stability problems in Wellington's draftier spots.

The ones telecom stock are usually the worst This ensures full harmonisation with their service standards.

I think that normally applies to any carrier supplied fone at the cheap end.
