UK average speed in 2011 was an average of 6.8Mb/s, NZ's average is around 3.5Mb/s, we are way behind. Out of interest South Koreas' average is 14.4Mb/s. They also plan on having 1Gb/s bb connections this year :drool gigaom.com |

| 1260053 | 2012-02-20 17:37:00 | I'm not sure why you would want to be on Telecom if you lived in Wellington, when you have cable access through Telstra Clear. | Twelvevolts (5457) | ||
| 1260054 | 2012-02-20 19:42:00 | The more people that leave Telecom and go to other ISPs (not Slingshot) the better. it might make them up their game. The new Ultra Fibre Project might help when it starts rolling out. But I think the major game breaker will be the second international pipeline being done by Mark Rushworth and friends. That will give the South Pacific Cable some competition. But he needs to raise the finance and then its two years from then to it opening so its going to be 2014/15 But I hear there is still much capacity on the South Pacific Cable, so maybe more pressure from Stephen Fry, John Key and Paul Brislen may help. |

| 1260055 | 2012-02-20 19:47:00 | Why are you living here then and not in the middle of Singapore, if you like highly dense populations so much? Maybe that is the key word here... DENSE population. You can go to Singapore and take your crappy ideas of overcrowded crap with you. I didn't say that I'd like to live in a crowded place. I was merely pointing out the fact that even if we quadrupled our population to 20 million, we would not be overcrowded. There are several cites in the world with that many people. I love NZ and I'm now to old top move. But I have always known that we would all be better off with more people here. |
