1259770 2012-02-19 19:25:00 Speaking of remembrance, this day could even be more suitable than Waitangi Day as it stands now:

1259771 2012-02-19 20:01:00 I don't think a disaster should be a day to celebrate.

Anzac day is a day to remember our victory over evil.

The Turks werent evil, they were just defending their country against an Englander and their Commonwealth mates invasion.
I agree though Gallipoli was a disaster and may not be a fitting day for a National day.
I would pick VJ day.

1259778 2012-02-19 22:10:00 The point of view taken for having ANZAC Day as our national day is not to celebrate war, rather to celebrate the sacrifice that so many (of all races) made to preserve our freedom from tyranny.
Most of them would be turning in there grave if they could see what was happening within NZ and the world today.
