1259729 2012-02-19 01:50:00 The tards said they left it for a "couple " of hours before they ate it.
Why didnt they trough down the KFC after they bought it?
Their "couple" of hours wasnt the English languages two it was about 8 hours plus left out on the bench.
The media who published this story are filthy scum.

1259730 2012-02-19 04:48:00 I think some flies are able to lay eggs that are ready to hatch immediately on laying (some can lay maggots but I don't think these would be the culprits but who knows). Leaving the food on the bench (no mention of a fridge) is abusing the food and asking for trouble - this is the most likely cause. A couple of hours is a rather inaccurate statement.

Even though I don't particularly like KFC, it would be unlikely that maggots could survive at heating cabinet temperatures. I think this is a very poor media beat up.

Source?

or did you just make all of that up to suport your point of view?

Having looked at a number of pages relating to the breeding/life cycle of NZ files, in particular the two most common house flys all the information I can find states 8 to 24 for the process of laying eggs to maggot stage.

None of them made a reference to KFC chicken warmers, I think you would need to do a study to have any idea at the life span of a maggot that was trapped within a pice of KFC. we have no idea what happened to that chicken between the time it was delivered to KFC and when it was served up as a meal.

Perhaps Mythbusters can help?

1259732 2012-02-19 06:50:00 It takes 8 hrs or so for fly eggs to hatch into maggots. 2 hrs on the bench might not improve the food poisoning chances, but it won't have been responsible for the maggots.
If they happily leave food like that on the bench for a couple of hours the chances are that the maggots came from their own kitchen.

en.wikipedia.org look at the section titled "Biology". I did suggest that they may not be present in NZ. Only that the possibility exists for live births, rather than an 8 hour gestation.

You made the reference to a warmer. I never stated that they did. My reply was against your suggestion that it was dropped on the floor and replaced in a warmer.

1259734 2012-02-19 18:31:00 True, It apears I did intoduce the warmer into the discussion with no knowlede as to wether the chicken did in fact serve time "inside". Metla (12)
1259735 2012-02-19 19:51:00 Nobody seems to care about the maggots - raising them from hatching exclusively on a diet of fast foods is asking for trouble later in their lives. R2x1 (4628)

Its not fair for chickens to serve time.

I wonder if they would be entitled to compensation?
