| 24992 | 2001-11-19 23:37:00 | I recently added a SCSI controller card to my Compaq Pentium 233 running win95 and ever since I get this message on shutdown. The ENTER key does not work and I have to turn the power off to shut the PC down. | Guest (0) | ||

Open your config.sys file with a text editor and check to see that the scsi driver if any, appears before the memory manager line, device=c:\windows\emm386.exe. If it appears after, then move it to above the emm386.exe line. This will ensure that the driver gets loaded into conventional memory rather than upper memory, reducing the possibility of a memory conflict. Another thing to try is putting a rem infront of the emm386 line to prevent it loading at all ie. rem device=c:\windows\emm386.exe but you may then get other memory problems. Check in Device Manager for any memory conflicts. |
