| 24948 | 2001-11-19 11:14:00 | I was recently given a '2 Way Auto Parallel Switch' I have a use for it but it wont work the way I think it is supposed to. I suspect it needs drivers or software It caries a brand name DSX and also has a CE sticker on it. I have checked out DSX on the net without any luck. Any help would be much appreciated |

The idea is that either conmputer by printing will lock out the other (by setting the busy line) until it has finished. There is usually a timeout (sometimes adjustable with a recessed DIP switch), in case the computer has to think a bit during a page; so sometimes pages will be interspersed if there is a delay between pages, and both computers are trying to print. Bad news is, it almost certainly won't work with any printer which has to talk back to the computer. They were used mostly with dot-matrix printers. |
