| 25001 | 2001-11-20 03:35:00 | Hi there I am trying to get my Win98 laptop to dial in to my Win2000 Professional PC. The laptop connects fine over a LAN. On the Win2000 PC I've created an 'Incoming Connections' connection with the following settings: I've selected a modem NOT allowed VPN Allowed a user Do not require all users to secure their passwords and data Selected TCPIP, File and printer sharing and client for MS networks Under TCPIP: do not allow callers to access LAN Assign IP addresses automatically. On the laptop I've created a dial-up with these settings: Type of Dialup: PPP, Internet, Win NT server, Win 98 NOT log on to network YES enable software compression NOT require encrypted pwd NOT require data encryption Use only TCPIP TCPIP settings: Server assigned IP address Server assigned name server Use IP header compression Use default gateway on remote network. However whenever I try to connect the PCs will attempt connection then get Error 720; DUN could not negotiate a compatible set of network protocols you specified in the Server Type settings. The Win2000 Event log says The user XXX connected to port COM1 has been disconnected because no network protocols were successfully negotiatated. Any suggested solutions? Thanks Paul |
