25225 2001-11-22 12:11:00 G'day, im running Win 98, some programs (particularly ICQ and some shortcuts e.g win+ E) take forever, if at all to load up. My ICQ on minimimisation disappears, but other window frames open as if ICQ is still running (i.e the little space on the right, its nothing, but its annoying and taking up real estate on my screen), i've upgraded to latest ICQ ver, still a problem. Other items in my Systray take an ages to to do most things (i've got plenty of RAM and plenty of HD space), On shutdown 'Waiting For Respoinse' message comes up from 'win 95 RPC wmsg'...its a all a pain in the neck as i keep having to reboot and ctrl+aly+del out of frustration. Anyone with any ideas/tips/whatever? Guest (0)
25226 2001-11-22 20:51:00 hello,
well there are couple of things I'de to try and ease the computer up. First a clean out may be needed so clean out your temp. internet folders, cookies, and temp, folder.
next if you open ICQ and go to preferences, and events, take the tick out of'ICQ at startup. Icq will then only open when you want it too not automaticaly.
good luck
