25193 2001-11-22 03:35:00 I recently did a clean install of Windows 98 SE on a friends computer. The problem I have now is that in the display properties there are only two options for the number of colours, 2 & 16, and the slider for the resolution will not be dragged off 640 x 480 pixels. In device manager, Windows says the most up to date driver is already installed, both for the display and monitor. I was under the impression that the standard drivers that Windows 98 has with it, would be adequate for a monitor.

How can I fix this?
Any help much appreciated.

25194 2001-11-22 03:49:00 You need specific drivers for the graphics card, and the monitor. Guest (0)
25195 2001-11-22 03:50:00 you need the correct drivers for your video card to get more than 16 colors, if you don't know what card you have you can tell when your pc first starts. it will display what the card is across the top of the screen but you have to be quick ! or press the pause key ! when you have the drivers go to the device manager and update the display device with the new drivers.
