25165 2001-11-22 03:59:00 i want to write some HTML that creates an email form on a web page (so customers can send dimensions to me) i have never used html or any software that creates it. Where should I start? Guest (0)
25166 2001-11-22 07:46:00 Nick, you might have to learn how to walk before you can run. Learning HTML isn't hard but it does require a lot of patience, time and enthusiasm. Even if you want to use an HTML editor like FrontPage it's still a good idea to start at your bookshop or library with some HTML tutorial books, there are plenty of good ones out there. Or, you can also do a search on the web, there are plenty of excellent tutorial sites there too.

Have fun!

25167 2001-11-22 09:13:00 HTML isn't the only thing you need to know. You'll also need to know CGI/Perl so you can send form data to your email address.

You'll need to find out if your host supports CGI/Perl.

try this link... it's a bit of a lengthy read but it's a good tutorial www.webdeveloper.com

25168 2001-11-22 11:04:00 Not quite true about cgi. The following works quite nicely:FORM ACTION='mailto:YourEmailAddress'
NAME='GadgetForm'
METHOD='POST'
ENCTYPE='text/plain'

But back to the original question about learning HTML. If you prefer learning from a person - don't forget your local high school's evening classes (although there probably won't be classes till next year now). I know our local high school has a class - because I teach it!

25169 2001-11-22 20:47:00 Hi Nick,
If you want an easy to use, free, but powerful html editor download this one. It has great tutorials and a good user forum. You will be an Html guru in no time.

Also go to about.com they have an excellent html section for newbies.

Good luck.
