25477 2001-11-24 23:22:00 Can't access Internet Express from hyperlinks sent in emails in Outlook Express. ISP can't help.
Anyone any clues please.
Thanks Merv L

25478 2001-11-25 02:14:00 Aha! I've seen this one before... Does it start loading outlook express and then bring up the famous microsoft dialogue box 'This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down'? I bet that was the first bit of the operating system they wrote... Anyway, check the details box, and print here the name of the .dll file that is causing the problem. I fixed this problem by re-installing Outlook Express. Consequently you will lose your emails. However it may be possible to replace the problematic .ddl file. If that fails there is a way to put the .dbx files that store your emails somewhere else while you perform the re-install, then put them back afterwards. That can be tricky, it would be better if you could just replace the .dll, so force the error, then post the name of the offending .dll. Guest (0)
25479 2001-11-25 08:22:00 Hi Merv, checkout Q177054 on the MS Knowledge base, it explains and offers a fix.

25480 2001-11-27 07:49:00 Hi Erin.
Thanks for your response. I'm running Windows ME with O.E. 5.5 and I.E. 6.0. I'm inclined to reinstall but am new to cd's. Can't isolate Outlook Express on the disk.
not too keen playing around alterng settings, ME has a mind of its own. O.E runs perfectly. When clicking on hyperlinks the screen goes blank, presto the now closed email has rejoined it's unopened neighbours on screen. No error messages.
See reply to Peter to continue the saga.
Thanks Merv.

25482 2001-11-27 08:01:00 Hi Peter,
Thanks for your reply.
The document you recommended unfortunately doesn't cover Windows ME. Windows 2000 must have a slightly different screen set up.
Up to item 4 on the list for Windows 2000 was okay, thought I was going well until then. Not to keen poking around in the innards.
See reply to Erin Salmon.
thanks again. Merv
