25412 2001-11-24 07:35:00 I am running ms off 2000. In an excel file I have there is a column in excess of 10000 rows (I think). Each row has a number in it similar to
000659846800-al. I would like to edit the WHOLE column to only include the 7 digit number in the middle eg 6598468. iI DONT want to do it individually. Can it be done and if so how?

25413 2001-11-24 10:06:00 If it is fixed size, then =mid(a1,4,7) should do it. The 4 means start at the 4th character, the 7 means for seven characters.
If it varies in size, gets a little harder. I can probably figure that out if you give me an idea of the contraints.

Uh oh, sounding nerdy. Have to watch that at the moment (see the thread with over 50 postings if you want to know why).
Robo.

or into the format menu
