25364 2001-11-24 00:22:00 Just got a new hdd and want to transfer old data on old hdd to it. It is formatted etc. I have tied selecting all and pasting under ME and then copying the windows dir. from dos ( using a start up floppy), but comes back at start up with corrupt or missing command.com.(it is there!) Are you trying to copy ME from one to other?
I think you will need to install it on the new drive. Copy the install image and away you go. Reinstall everything. Not worth trying to copy old one, I don't think.
A good opportunity to have a completely clean registry and system.

Good luck, Robo.

25366 2001-11-24 01:43:00 if you had no problems with the old windows then you can copy the whole hardrive over using a program like nortons ghost. check out the hardrive manafactures website as they usually have a freebie tool to do this.

if you have had problems then do a fresh install of windows on the new drive and copy your old files over from the old drive.
