| 25268 | 2001-11-23 02:58:00 | I was playing with (learinig) the BIOS set up and I was in the Advanced Chipset Setup. The EDO DRAM access time was set in 70ns. In the other items givem thereunder something was not 'highlighted'and so I tried to go in there. But System always kept 'jumping out' of that item. Then I don't remember what I did thereafter and how, the 70ns set up disappeared. Now it is blank and I can't find or insert any number there because none is available. I believe, the PC has been a little bit slow since then but not too sure. Has anyone got any previous experience so they can advice me as to how to reset it? Thank you so much. Mukesh |

That is probably a default value, and once you disturbed the system, it decided that there was no such memory. Most EDO would be 60nS, and that is just to tell the CPU to wait a bit if you have slower stuff. If the setting window now shows blank, it is either giving no extra delay, or waiting an infinite time. I would guess no delay, since the computer is still working. If you really want to see a number there, you could (after making sure you have written down the HD values) select the 'load default BIOS values' line-- probably in the first or second page of the setup, then 'save and exit'. But if you are playung with the BIOS, you should exit without saving if you have done something you do not understand. '...I don't remember what I did thereafter and how...' is not a good mantra for anyone wanting troublefree computing. |
