| 25645 | 2001-11-26 07:58:00 | My start button regularly loses its graphics, ie it is blank or just has horizontal coloured smears across it. Sometimes when I click it, the 'windows 98' vertical wording on the left is also missing... just lines and dots. Everything else is ok. This has only recently started. I have also started to get occasional lock ups and wonder if the two are linked. Any suggestions? Home made system: Win98SE P3 667 256 Ram NVIDIA Riva TNT 64 AGP VIA Chipset 20 GB HDD Atapi CD Rom amd HP CDRW Thats all I think is relevant, cheers |

Download from PCWorld File world or go to link below. Might have been on the November PCWorld Plus CD but I am not sure of that. idg.co.nz 72F53BB1E86F68ABCC256AF6006E7850?OpenDocument |

Not sure what it is yet,I think it has something to do with the drivers. Have you updated the video drivers lately? Nvidia reference drivers are normally pretty good, but there seems to be some bugs in the latest ones. I have also had this problem with a TNT2 card. There is also a bug in the latest XP drivers that won,t let you adjust the clock settings on a Geforce mx. Try loading an older driver and see if it fixes the problem. |
